About Me

It's a good idea to know the background and credentials of the counsellor or therapist you choose to help you. Here are the relevant details about me.

One word to sum up the nature of my work would be ‘relationships’ in the widest possible meaning of the word. By relationships, I not only mean how we interact and relate to others but also how we relate to ourselves too. Using this broad meaning most emotional issues can be addressed from low self-esteem and loneliness to dealing with divorce or bereavement.

A significant part of my work to date has been with people who have survived abuse or trauma of various kinds. This work has been in progress since 2001 in association with Loughborough Women's Aid.

I have over 10 years experience in the therapy field, having completed numerous personal development, academic and professional training courses. This culminated in my attainment of a Master of Arts degree in Humanistic Person-Centred Psychotherapy, which I completed in 2004.

I have worked in the corporate world, working for a provider of counselling for employees of large companies and organisations as well as the Loughborough University Counselling Service. I have been in private practice since 2001.

I am able to work with people from all kinds of backgrounds and stages of life. I work according to your individual needs and strive to involve you actively in the process.

It may be reassuring to know that I am a registered member of the UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and SPTI (Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute), professional organisations created to ensure good practice. I adhere to a code of ethics, which is based on confidentiality and respect and aims to enhance the quality of your life and ultimately to support you to fulfill your unique potential.
